---- — • To Glen Lake track coach Paul Christiansen for his induction into the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Christiansen, who joined the Glen Lake school staff in 1973, will start his 37th month coaching track next month. He has coached 83 sports seasons of track, basketball, football and golf at Glen Lake. He coached the boys track team for 20 years before switching to the girls. His teams have won seven regionals and placed in the top 10 in the state meet seven times.

• To the Carmelite Monastery nuns who are preparing for upcoming renovations to their Traverse City chapel where sisters have worshipped, prayed and lived for almost 50 years. The architect is Duncan Stroik of South Bend, Ind., who specializes in sacred architecture and has done renovations to well-known chapels and churches across the country. "We want to make it more beautiful so the mind is lifted up to heaven," said Mother Mary of Jesus, the monastery's prioress. "We've learned that a thing can be simple and poor and beautiful "¦"

• To all involved in the UpNorthTV Teleganza Teen Talent Search, scheduled for March 1-3 at the City Opera House. A benefit for area nonprofits, the Teleganza debuted in 2011 and this year added a talent search competition. All performers will be shown live on UpNorth TV cable channels 97 and 992, and will also be streamed live on the Internet at www.upnorthmedia and recorded for later playback.

• To Joedy Annis and several dance groups in northern Michigan for organizing Saturday's "Dance Battle 4 the Cure" to raise money for the American Cancer Society in honor of Joedy's mother-in-law, Karen Annis. Joedy is a hip-hop teacher at Northwestern Michigan College. Other performers at St. Francis High School's gym included members of the Dance Center's Fresh Fusion Extreme and Fresh Fusion ensembles, the college hip-hop crew MOJO Stomp, Crystal Bindi Studio's Jewel Jigglers and more.

• To the Tasters' Guild Auction and NMC Culinary Institute students for the 18th Annual Tasters Guild Auction held Friday. Net proceeds from the benefit auction go toward academic scholarships, books and equipment for students.

• To 70-year-old David Ferrazza, of Interlochen, a member of a skydiving group that set a new group record in Arizona last month performing a 15-person intricate skydiving configuration called a "stable snowflake formation." He served in the Air Force Special Ops, Airborne Division in the early 1960s. "You don't stop jumping because you're old," he said. "You get old because you stop jumping."
