TRAVERSE CITY — Edward Dobzyniak, 95, passed away peacefully at Grand Traverse Pavilions on Dec. 15, 2012.
Edward was born April 30, 1917, to Jo'zef and Maria (Chlewicki) Dobrzyniak in Detroit.
Edward married Violet Lopinski 72 years ago on Dec. 27, 1941. He graduated from Henry Ford Trade School, earned a B.S. from the University of Detroit and M.B.A. from Michigan State University. Edward served as a U.S. Army officer in the Pacific Theatre during World War II from 1941 to 1946. He enjoyed his work in the auto industry, finally retiring in 1981 from an engineering and executive position at Chrysler Corporation. He was a devoted father of two sons. After retiring in 1982, Edward enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening and the time spent with his grandchildren.
Edward is survived by his wife Violet; son, Dr. Allan (Susan); grandsons, Dr. Matthew (Kimberly), Lieutenant Colonel USMC Kevin (Renee), Dr. Christopher (Heather); and seven great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his sister Dolores (late David) Klingler; and brother Raymond.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brion (late Nancy); and brother,John (Bernice).
A memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City, with visitation one hour prior. Edward's final resting place will be at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn.
