TRAVERSE CITY -- Zack Smoot scored three goals Saturday night as Janesville left town with a series split by beating the Traverse City North Stars 6-3 in a North American Hockey League game.
The Stars were leading 2-1 in the first period when the Jets took control, scoring four unanswered goals, two by Smoot.
Andy Huff, Doug Clifford and Dan Radke scored the North Stars goals. Radke assisted on Huff's tally while Garrett Thompson and Eric McLintock picked up assists on the Clifford goal. Huff's goal was his 11th of the season, tops in the NAHL.
Tyler Marble started in goal for Traverse City. He was replaced by Drew Strandberg in the third period.
The Stars now trail Marquette by three points in the North Division after the Rangers swept Alpena. Traverse City hosts Marquette this weekend.
