TC's Harman nets 22 in CMU loss

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Douglas Davis scored 16 points, including the last four of the game, as Princeton defeated Central Michigan 71-68 on Saturday.

Central Michigan (0-1) led 68-67 with 45 seconds to play after a pair of free throws by Jordan Bitzer, who had 19 points and six rebounds for the Chippewas.

But Davis scored with 28 seconds to play to give the Tigers (1-0) the lead, then blocked a shot on the other end, was fouled and made two free throws. Robbie Harman, who had a game-high 22 points, missed a late 3-point attempt for CMU that would have tied the game.

Kingsley runners in Jr. Olympics

NORTHVILLE -- Seven Kingsley runners placed Saturday in the state Junior Olympics and qualified for next weekend's regionals in Kentucky.

In the girls Bantam Division -- grades 3-5 -- the team of Beth McNair, Katelyn Duffing, Josephine Durescki, Hannah Richards and Remmi King took first in the3K run. McNair was second overall, Durescki fourth, Duffing sixth, Richards seventh and King ninth.

In the 4K Youth Boys race, Justine Prange placed seventh and Dylan Zenner 10th.

Track and field clinics slated

TRAVERSE CITY -- Track and field clinics will be held on two Sundays -- Nov. 22 and Dec. 13 -- at the Traverse City Central gymnasium.

The Nov. 22nd clinic will focus on hurdling from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m..

The Dec. 13th clinic will be on the high jump. It will go from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The cost is $25 per person. The clinics are for boys and girls in grades 8-12.

To pre-register call 941-0183 and leave a name, grade, school and phone number.

Central boys track coach John Lober and his staff will run the clinics.

Zywicki, Ricord win Turkey Trot

MAPLE CITY -- Ron Zywicki and Bonnie Ricord were the overall winners Saturday in the Glen Lake 5K Turkey Trot.

Zywicki won the men's race in 16:39. He was followed by Sebby Kucera (17:43) and Kieran Hall (19:23).

Ricord took the womnen's race in 22:54. Sarah Furman (25:22) and Mary Pray (25:32) were second and third.

Jeff Gaft (19:57) and Jane Kowieski (25:38) were the masters winners.
