TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City North Stars were leading 3-1 and on their way to a fifth consecutive North American Hockey League win Friday night.
Then Port Huron's Ian Miller took over.
Miller scored two third-period goals -- the last with 17 seconds left to tie it -- and then closed it out with a goal in the shootout as the first-place Fighting Falcons rallied for a 4-3 win at Centre ICE.
Sean Murphy's power-play goal late in the first period gave the North Stars a lead they would keep until Miller's tying tally.
Eric Rivard and Kyle Schempp added second-period goals for TC.
Rivard and Murphy also drew assists in the game, as did Chris Leibinger and Eric Jones.
Port Huron outshot Traverse City (9-4-4) 34-29, including 15-2 in the third period.
Neither team scored in overtime.
Port Huron won the shootout 2-0 on goals by Jake Goldberg and Miller.
The teams meet again tonight at Centre ICE.
