TRAVERSE CITY — Eric Rivard scored the game-winning goal midway through the third period, and then Kyle Loridon added an insurance goal a minute later, as the Traverse City North Stars defeated Kalamazoo 4-2 in a North American Hockey League game at Centre ICE on Tuesday.
Rivard had staked the Stars to an early 1-0 lead. But Kalamazoo closed out the period with goals by Robbie Payne and Christian George to take a 2-1 advantage.
Michal Toman tied it in the second period. Then Rivard won it.
Kyle Laslo stopped 29 shots in goal for the Stars.
Mitchell Snider and Robert Wiener picked up two assists in the win.
Traverse City and Kalamazoo finish their regular season series with two more games this weekend in Kalamazoo. Each team has five wins against the other this year.
