TRAVERSE CITY-- The Traverse City North Stars beat Motor City 4-1 Wednesday night to move into a tie with Marquette for the lead in the North Division of the North American Hockey League.
The Stars host Marquette in a three-game weekend set, starting with a 7 p.m. face-off Friday.
Alec Shields, Tim Opie, Chris Salomone and Dan Radke tallied for Traverse City. Drew Strandberg stopped 21 shots in goal.
Division-leading Port Huron clinched a playoff berth on Saturday, but couldn't handle the North Stars on Sunday.
