Stars sweep Warriors
Tyler Marble stopped 25 shots Sunday as the Traverse City North Stars completed a three-game sweep of the Michigan Warriors with a 2-0 North American Hockey League win at Centre ICE. The North Stars, who have won seven of their last eight games, improved to 33-15-1 and moved to within two points of second-place Janesville in the North Division.

Alex Shields scored with one second left in the third period Saturday night as the Traverse City North Stars edged the Michigan Warriors 3-2 in a North American Hockey League game at Centre ICE. It was the second night in a row Shields netted the game-winner. He scored in a shootout Friday night to give the Stars a 3-2 win over the Warriors.

The Cadillac native scored the only goal of the game's first two periods Saturday, then the Jackets busted loose for four more in the third period for a 5-1 victory over Traverse City, despite being outshot 31-29.

Traverse City fell behind in the opening minute of play Wednesday night, but fought back for a key 5-2 North American Hockey League win over the Michigan Warriors. The North Stars (29-14-1) moved into sole possession of third place in the North Division, two points ahead of Michigan and Motor City and just four behind second-place Janesville. The top four teams in the division advance to the playoffs.
