John E. Richardson

GRAND LEDGE — Mr. John Everett Richardson, 82, born April 26, 1928, in Muskegon, passed away Feb. 13, 2012, in Lansing.

John was a veteran of the Korean War.

John was a salesman at Capitol City Lumber, former owner of Plywood Sales and moved to Brown Lumber in Traverse City in 1975.

After retiring John and his wife, Jean, spent 17 wonderful years in Florida, moving back to Grand Ledge in 2004 to be close to family.

He was also a member of the Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jean Hobson Richardson; three daughters, Sue (Ron) Quimby, Sandy (Chuck) Pantera and Sheri (Marshall) Yee, all of Grand Ledge; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (Robert) Farster, of Olympia, Wash., and Sally Bell, of Traverse City; four brothers, Jerald (Joan), of Honor, Harold (Louise), of Battle Creek, Delbert, of Holt, and Edward, of Traverse City; and caregiver and special friend, Lola Meeder.

He was predeceased by his father, Bertrand; and mother, Martha (Dezelski).

A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held at Country House Catering (The Golden Rose), 3056 Okemos Road, Mason, MI 48854, on Saturday, March 10, 2012, from noon to 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Parkinson's Association or the Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church (F.U.M.C.) in memory of John Richardson.
