TRAVERSE CITY — Robert Max Mielke, 73, of Traverse City, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, March 27, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born July 5, 1938, in Traverse City, the son of William Anton and Adelaide Theresia Grace (Eisner) Mielke.

Bob served eight years with the Michigan Army National Guard and The United States Army Reserve.

He married Beverly Hessem on Feb. 1, 1964, in Traverse City.

Bob retired from Elmer's Asphalt.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, cookouts and most of all, his family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Beverly Mielke, of Traverse City; children, Doug (Robin) Mielke, of Ft. Myers, Fla., Janet (Stan) Bristol, of Grand Rapids, and Judy (Kurt) Bainbridge, of Traverse City; grandchildren, Heather Quist, Joshua Bristol, Jessica Lowery, Ashley Bixler and Jordan Bainbridge; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Dylan and Avery Quist; and brother, Albert (Jean) Mielke, of Tennessee.

Cremation has taken place. An informal gathering for family and friends will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bob to the Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation designated to Munson Hospice.
