BENZONIA — Robert Austin, 89, of Benzonia, died Oct. 1, 2012, at home.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on May 20, 1923, he was the son of William and Ellen (Woolhouse) Austin. Bob married Marion (Mickey) Gregerson on June 17, 1949.
Robert became an American citizen upon entering the U.S. Army in 1943. He served with the 10th Mountain Division during the Italian Campaign.
He is survived by his wife, a son and four daughters. Robert is also survived by 13 beloved grandchildren and three precious great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, per his wishes. A private family gathering will be held in the summer of 2013.
If desired, contributions may be made to BACN or the Salvation Army.
Arrangements are by Jowett Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Service.
