GRAYLING — Jim Larry McClain, 79, of Grayling, passed away while in the company of family members Monday, Feb. 6, 2012. Jim was born in Grayling on Aug. 1, 1932, a son of the late Carrie (LaGrow) and Floyd "Mickey" McClain.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal and worked as a supply sergeant at M.A.T.E.S.
He married the former Rita Sorenson on Nov. 6, 1954, in Grayling.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rita; children, Jim McClain, of Grayling, Dan (Carolyn) McClain, of West Bloomfield, Julie (Mark) Ginther, of Grayling, Randy (Denise) McClain, of St. Clair Shores, and Pam (Michael) Fischl, of Storrs, Conn.; grandchildren, Mickey, Brooke (Brad), Melanie, Matt (Shannon), Blair, Mitchell, Adam, Katie, Michael and Molly; great-greatgrandchildren, Olivia and Griffin; and siblings, F.J. McClain, Jerry (Wilda) McClain, Sally (LeRoy) Papendick and Bob (Marilyn) McClain.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack McClain.
A memorial service will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 10, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Grayling Little League, c/o Julie Ginther, 231 S. Ausable Dr., Grayling, MI 49738.
