Doris M. Cadmus

TRAVERSE CITY — Doris May Cadmus, 82, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.

Doris was born on Aug. 20, 1929, to the late Nelson and Arlene (Adams) Horton in Painsville, Ohio. She entered into marriage with Earl M. Cadmus on Sept. 10, 1949.

Doris lived in the area most of her life. She was an active and lifetime member of V.F.W., as well as a member of Eagles and her beloved Bunko Club.

In earlier years, Doris loved dancing and filling their home with the sweet smell of her homemade sugar cookies and cinnamon rolls. Doris enjoyed knitting and volunteered her talents providing several hundred knitted baby hats to Munson over the years. She would often pass time tending to her roses or watching the birds and deer out the front window. Doris loved the water, from spending time fishing with her husband to vacationing and taking cruises with family and friends.

Doris is survived by her loving husband of over 62 years, Earl Cadmus, of Traverse City; her two daughters, Shari (George) Ricket, of Interlochen, and Cynthia (James) Kruse of Traverse City; six grandchildren, Melissa (Chuck) Schneider, Wayne Ricket, Heather (Scott) Lee, Alisha (D.J.) Gauthier, Adam Kruse and William Downs; three great-grandchildren, Madisyn, George and Samantha; her sister, Bernetta (Jerry) McMillen; two nieces, one nephew and many other loving family members and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Brower and her parents.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside committal services will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery in the spring.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to all those who contributed to the exceptional care during Doris' time at Munson Medical Center on the fourth floor and at the Munson Hospice House.
