Astrid Marie Drulard

LOVELAND, Colo. — Marie Drulard passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on March 23, 2012, in Loveland, Colo.

Marie was born in Traverse City on June 16, 1936, the youngest of eight children.

Marie attended Traverse City High School and married Bob Drulard, her high school sweetheart, on Jan. 19, 1957.

She graduated from Michigan State University and began teaching in Grand Rapids.

Marie enjoyed working with charitable groups while living in the Grand Rapids area.

Marie retired from the Kentwood School District after 15 years and moved to Detroit for her husband's career with General Motors.

Marie was a popular substitute teacher in Troy and also later in Plano, Texas.

Bob and Marie retired in Loveland, Colo., in 1996.

Marie enjoyed golf, cards, MSU athletics and being the life of the party.

In her retirement, Marie volunteered for various elementary school events. She especially enjoyed volunteering for her grandchildren's school activities, with her husband by her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Lyon; her sister, Nesta Jereb and brother-in-law, Tom; her brother, Morris and sister-in-law, Marjean; and brothers-in-law, Bob Wiarda and Dick French.

Marie was survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob. Marie is survived by her sisters, Betty Vogel (Lefty), Frances Wiarda and Pat French; brothers, Whitney (Mary) and Willie (Ann); son, Jack, of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Kathy, of Denver, Colo.; son-in-law, Dr. Mark Bishard; and grandchildren, Blake and Kristina Bishard. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.

A memorial service is being held in Traverse City on Aug. 4, 2012, at 11 a.m. The location is at the Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster Road, Traverse City, MI
