Dorothy Grace Troutwine Burrows

LODI — Dorothy Grace Troutwine Burrows, of Lodi, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 24, 2012, at the age of 92.

She was born July 17, 1920, to George Howard and Nellie Gaylord Troutwine, of Traverse City. She attended high school there and received her Diploma of Nursing from Saint Mary Mercy Hospital in Indiana in 1941.

She worked as an RN in various settings for over 35 years.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Wayne Gibbs Burrows Sr., on June 13, 1942. They raised their family in Traverse City and Long Lake. They moved to Fresno, Calif., in 1973 to be near their children and grandchildren until retiring to Tucson, Ariz., in 1987. They remained there until 2003, moving to Lodi to be near family again. They were married for nearly 64 years and were devoted to each other until Wayne's passing in 2006. At that time she moved to the Commons on Thornton, where she developed many deep friendships.

Dorothy was a compassionate nurse, wonderful wife and caring mother and grandmother. She loved to knit and sew and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Kay Burrows Zin.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Gibbs Burrows and his wife, Jackie, of Woodbridge; son-in-law, Ken Zin, of San Jose; former daughter-in-law, Marianne Burrows, of Visalia; her grandchildren, Shelli and John Hampton, Amy and Dan Wells, Trey and Tammy Burrows, Bill and Deanna Norman, Heather and Todd Pastorini, and Craig and Cristy Hunter; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

There is no visitation. Services and committal are private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of San Joaquin.
