SUTTONS BAY — Angeline D. O'Non, 93, of Suttons Bay, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Munson Medical Center.

Angie was born in Murray, Utah, on Nov. 29, 1918, the daughter of Ernest and Jennie (Spilos) Demas, who emigrated from Greece in 1915. When Angie was two years of age they moved to Detroit, where her father had a neighborhood grocery store. She grew up during the depression, learning many of the values she carried with her throughout her life.

She graduated from Detroit Eastern in 1936 and attended business college for two years afterward. Following business school, Angie worked in the accounting department at the National Bank of Detroit.

In 1945 she married Pierre "Pete" J. O'Non, who preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1974. Angie and Pete lived in Grosse Point Farms until 1955 when they moved to Suttons Bay, where Pete had purchased a land surveying business and was the Leelanau County Surveyor.

In addition to being a homemaker and raising three sons, Angie worked in the family business until 1974 when her husband passed away.

She was a kind and generous person who enjoyed sewing and occasionally would make clothing for herself and some of her friends. Angie was an only child who treated all her cousins like her own brothers and sisters. Her favorite things were family gatherings when everyone would get together for meals and socializing. Angie also took care of her mother until her death in 1991.

Angie is survived by her three sons, James (Nancy) O'Non, Nicholas (Robyn) O'Non and Timothy (Kerry) O'Non; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19, from 2 to 8 p.m., with a 5 p.m. memorial service, at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 20, at 10 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior, also at the funeral home. Father Ciprian Streza, of the Archangel Gabriel Greek Orthodox Church, will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at Keswick Maple Grove Cemetery.
