Jonathan D. 'Jon' Forrester

BENZONIA — Jonathan D. "Jon" Forrester, of Benzonia, died at his home on Wednesday morning, Feb. 15, 2012. Born Feb. 23, 1984, in Traverse City, he was the beloved son of Steven W. and Amanda L. (Hardley) Forrester.

Jon worked with his dad at the Backcast Fly Shop. He enjoyed helping and interacting with the customers. The shop will never be the same.

Everyone loved Jon.

Jon loved spending time outdoors in God's creation. He loved looking for morel mushrooms and interesting perennial plants. He enjoyed fishing and helping his mom can the salmon he would catch under the bridge on the Betsie River. He was very proud of his new kayak and his mountain bike.

Jon volunteered weekly at Benzie Area Christian Neighbors. Jon had a tender heart toward people no matter who they were. His smile and laughing eyes captured people's hearts.

Jon attended East Bay Calvary Church almost all of his life. One great highlight for him there was his high school mission trip to Quebec, Canada.

Jon's loving and caring spirit, coupled with his great sense of humor, made him a joy to be around. Words cannot begin to express how much he will be missed.

In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his brother, Benjamin Forrester, of Interlochen; twin sisters, Tiffany (Isaiah) Kline, of Traverse City, and Tabitha (John) McDaniel, of Copemish; maternal grandparents, Mick and Jill Hardley, of Traverse City; paternal grandmother, Geraldine Forrester, of Thompsonville; five nieces and three nephews who adored their dear "Uncle Jonny"; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Claude Forrester.

Memorial services will be held at East Bay Calvary Church, 2225 Hammond Road East, Traverse City, MI on Monday, Feb. 20,

2012, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Kendale Dennis will officiate. Cremation has taken place.

In remembrance of Jon, memorials may be made to Benzie Area Christian Neighbors or to East Bay Calvary Church. Envelopes may be obtained at the service.
