---- — CASEVILLE — William Hudson Willson, 94, of Caseville, died Feb. 27, 2013, at Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City. William was born Jan. 13, 1919, in Royal Oak, to Glenn and Martha (Davidson) Willson.
Bill served in World War II and was a proud member of the Greatest Generation.
He married Dorothy (Woodcock) in November of 1946 at National Shrine Catholic Church in Royal Oak and was married for 49 years. They moved to Caseville in 1977. Dorothy preceded him in death.
William worked for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn for 38 years until his retirement.
After retirement they enjoyed their homes in Royal Oak, Boca Raton, Fla., and Caseville.
His greatest joys were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his children, William H. (Melinda) Willson Jr. of Washington, D.C., Jane Melko, of Royal Oak, and Thomas Max (Deborah) Willson, of Traverse City; five grandchildren, Jason Melko, Tim (Kim) Melko, Grace (Asher) Cantor, Heather (Jon) Tallinger and Ashley (Matthew) Bykowski; three great-grandchildren, Ava Tallinger and Eamon and Nora Elaine Cantor; and his longtime best friend and companion, Leah Hubel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Martha; wife, Dorothy; and seven sisters and brothers.
The family would like to thank all of his physicians and medical staff for all the care and kindness they gave Bill and his family.
A memorial service honoring Bill’s life will be held this spring in Caseville and Royal Oak.
