TRAVERSE CITY — Richard Edward Karsnick, 86, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Bortz Health Care Facility in Traverse City. Richard was born on Nov. 5, 1925, in Detroit.
He was an active member of the Knight of Columbus Council 13432 of Kingsley.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Richard was a lifelong baker and a gentle man whose family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his children, Richard (Vicki), Dennis (Kim), John, Timothy, Denise (Skip Hinch), Theresa (Michael Hanink) and Douglas. Richard was the grandfather of 16 and great-grandfather of 18.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Mae; eldest son, Joseph Edward; and his parents.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m., from St. Mary's Hannah Church in Kingsley. Visitation will be at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley on Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m., with the Knights of Columbus praying the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and a parish vigil service to immediately follow. Interment will be in St. Mary Hannah Cemetery.
