RAPID CITY — Sylvester R. Gould, 82, of Rapid City, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Munson Hospice House.
Sylvester was born on June 23, 1930, in Acme Twp., the son of Augustus and Cecelia (Ance) Gould. On June 24, 1952, in Leelanau Co., he married Tillie John, who preceded him in death.
Sylvester worked on many of the first farms located in the Acme and Elk Rapids areas as a general laborer. He also lived and worked in Yuba as well as in Sioux City, Iowa.
Sylvester is survived by his children, Carol VanConett, Nyla Warren and Eleanor; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Art; and two sisters, Shirley and Suzanne.
In addition to his wife, Tillie, Sylvester was preceded in death by his son, Richard John; and siblings, Clifford Gould, Jerry, Julius, Chester and Mildred.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. until the start of the 2 p.m. funeral service, at the Kewadin Indian Mission Church. The Rev. Tom John will officiate. Cremation will take place following the service.
