SUTTONS BAY — James Patrick Morrissey, 55, of Suttons Bay, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at his home. Jim was born on Dec. 19, 1957, in Inglewood, Calif., the son of Roger and Bernadine (Haase) Morrissey.
Jim served our country as a U.S. Army Airborne Ranger; he was fascinated by space and always wanted to be an astronaut.
He was a talented cook and enjoyed entertaining. Jim adored animals and taking care of them. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and loved storytelling and jokes. Most of all, Jim was a great father who loved his children and was a kind, generous and funny man with a large and very distinct laugh; he was a great friend to many.
Jim is survived by his companion, Patricia Cole; daughter, Megan Morrissey; son, Derek Thomason; sisters, Theresa Patterson and Mary Correa; brothers, Roger, Steven, Martin, Daniel, Joseph, John and Patrick Morrissey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held in the summer.
