TRAVERSE CITY — William Henry “Rick” Ramseur Jr. died Feb. 13, 2013, at his Traverse City home. Born June 3, 1932, in Hot Springs, Ark., he was the only child of Bertha Rose (Phillipi) and William Henry Ramseur Sr.
Rick was raised in Hot Springs, Ark. He graduated from Hot Springs High School and then attended the University of Arkansas, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1954.
Following graduation from the university Rick joined the Group Department of Aetna Life Insurance Company as a home office representative. His first assignment was in San Francisco, Calif., where Rick achieved outstanding success in sales of employee benefits to west coast companies. In 1965, Rick was transferred to the Aetna’s corporate office where, using his business knowledge and strong interpersonal skills, he continued to achieve superior results. In the late 1980s, with an excellent reputation and respect throughout the organization, Rick was asked to assume a critical role in field management as Aetna moved to a managed care organization. Rick retired as an assistant vice president in 1991, completing 37 years of outstanding service to Aetna Life and Casualty.
Rick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Gaylord Keator Ramseur; and his daughters and sons-in-law, Liza (Bullard) and John Shaban, of Redding, Conn., Gretchen (Bullard) and Tobin Fraser, of Traverse City, and Allison (Bullard) and Eddie O’Keefe, of Traverse City.
