S PIER — GILL'Helen Mary Korson, 91, of Gill's Pier, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at her home. Helen was born on Dec. 10, 1920, in Suttons Bay, the daughter of Wencil and Ludmilla (Kolarik) Korson.

Helen lived on the home farm until she bought the former Wencil Sedlacik farm.

She worked at the county courthouse as a secretary to Fred Hahnenberg until his retirement. Helen then became the Registrar of Deeds for almost 40 years until her retirement.

She was an organist at St. Wenceslaus Church for over 30 years and also took care of the choir.

Helen provided care to family when mother passed away and looked after her father for the remaining 10 years of his life. Helen was always there to help family and friends with words or cash and will fondly be remembered as a true friend. She was well known and well liked in the county and a friend to all.

Helen is survived by her siblings, John, Peter, Agnes (William) Donner, Sister Mary Lydia Korson, Sister Peter Mary, Sister Mary Therese, David (Patricia), Jerome (Carol) and Christine (Tom) Gibson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and James.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with the rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at St. Wenceslaus Church, Gill's Pier. Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
