---- — RAPID CITY — Glenis R. Allen, age 83, passed away on Feb. 22, 2013. She was born in Rapid City on Feb. 2, 1930.
Glenis was a beautiful, loving, kind, and strong individual. She demanded the best of herself and brought out the best of everyone she touched. She was a devoted mother to her eight children, Linda (Terry) Bennett, Tom Underhill, Nancy (Mike) Fitzgerald, Don Underhill, Billie (Steve) Green, Sue (Paul) Chichester, Tammie (Tim) Fettig, and Candy (Rich) Vieracker, who all loved her very much. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Her guidance, love and influence will remain with all of them forever.
Glenis loved to cook, bake bread and to share her skills with others. She also quilted, sewed and was a 4-H leader for many years. She loved nature, being outside in her garden and especially her flower gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orva Allen; parents, Ben and Grace Zimmerman; and two sisters, Juanita Jean Guy and Goldie Gaylord. Her surviving siblings are Leone Bagnall, Benjamin Zimmerman, Leo Zimmerman, Alberta Zeman, and Wanda Tuller.
A family memorial will be held at a later date.
