TRAVERSE CITY — John Bennett Pedwaydon, 65, of Traverse City, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Tendercare of Leelanau.
John was born on March 14, 1947, in Detroit the son of John and Josephine (Huff) Pedwaydon. As a young man, John served our nation in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing softball. John was a very strong individual throughout his entire life. He was a loving brother and uncle and he loved his family and was greatly inspired by his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
John is survived by his brothers, Alvin (Constance) Pedwaydon, Francis (Vivian) Pedwaydon; a sister, Delores (Robert) Emartinger; seven nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leslie and Melvin.
Visitation will take place today, Sept. 20, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Peshawbestown. Fr. James Von Tobel, SJ, will serve as celebrant. Burial will follow at Kateri Tekakwitha Cemetery.
