FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Ruth Eileen Leeson, 99, died March 5, 2012, at A New Haven adult family home, Federal Way, Wash., where she had lived for two years.
Ruth was born Feb. 21, 1913, in Baldwin, to Flossie M. (Updegraff) and Glenn S. Wilkinson.
Ruth received a bachelor's degree in teaching from Western State Teachers College, Kalamazoo.
She taught in Traverse City and Baldwin Schools.
Ruth was a lifelong member of the Baldwin Congregational Church, where she was honored in 1995 for directing the Senior Choir for 53 years.
Ruth and Bob lived in Traverse City from 1996 to 2001.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert E. (Bob) Leeson. Her brother, Varl O. Wilkinson, died just one month later on April 4, 2012.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Ellen Leeson-Jackson and son-in-law, Geoffrey Jackson, of Federal Way, Wash.; 10 nieces and nephews; and many cousins, great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Aug. 11 at 3 p.m. at the Baldwin Congregational Church.
