Elmer L. Boyer Jr.

TRAVERSE CITY — Elmer Lee Boyer Jr., 81, of Traverse City, died Monday morning, June 25, 2012, at Tendercare of Traverse City.

Born March 8, 1931, in Lake City, he was the son of the late Elmer Lee Boyer Sr. and Elsie (Richmond) Boyer. On March 14, 1953, in Fife Lake, he married the love of his life, Beverly J. Kroesing, who preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2004. We know he is overjoyed to be with his wife Beverly again. They are now resting together in Heaven with their Savior Jesus Christ.

For 50 years, Elmer worked as a Long Distance Truck Driver. In those years he worked for Nottke Trucking, Chef Pierre and others. However, he most enjoyed the 15 years they drove as a husband and wife team with his dear Beverly.

Elmer was affectionately referred to by his friends as "Red," due to his bright red curly hair that turned white a number of years ago.

As his hobbies, he enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, fishing, camping, family time, watching John Wayne Western movies, and a good cold beer. He also had a great love of animals.

Elmer will be truly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Elmer L. "Butch" Boyer III, of Grawn; daughters, Jean D. (Marty) Oien, of Traverse City, and Patricia Thomas, of Traverse City; three grandchildren, Joshua Sisco, Jared Sisco and Stacey Boyer; one sister, Alice Water, of Cadillac; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Corrine Bozak.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

In remembrance of Elmer, memorials may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home.

Kindly share your memories with the family on their online guestbook at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.

Arrangements were made with Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
