TRAVERSE CITY —
Richard Leo "Rich" Harp, 53, of Traverse City, died Monday morning, July 2, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Rich was a well-known farmer on Old Mission Peninsula.
He enjoyed being around people and was always lending a helping hand when needed. As his hobbies, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was a member of Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.
Rich is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Mike, Becki, Richie, Ryan and Russell Harp; father, Richard Leo Harp; sister, Joyce Ashmore; brother, Ron (Debbie) Harp; three grandchildren, Shania, Phoenix "Tennessee" and Ella, along with her father, Joe Anderson, all of Traverse City; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved fox hound, Carmel.
Rich was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; son, Richard; sister, Vicki Anderson; and his brother, Craig.
A Sacred Fire Gathering will take place now until Friday at noon at 10968 Center Road, Traverse City.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with Paul Raphael officiating.
