TRAVERSE CITY — Maxine Cross, 85, of Traverse City, passed away Jan. 17, 2013, at her home. Maxine was born on May 26, 1927, in Hannah, to the late Arlington and Grace Weber.
Maxine was an underwriter for Lake State Insurance Company.
In her younger years she was a member of the Sweet Adelines. After her retirement in the 1980s she enjoyed traveling, crocheting and knitting. She also liked to complete jigsaw puzzles and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.
Maxine is survived by her children, Sandy Hendges, of Traverse City, Terrance (Terry Jo) Umlor, of Kingsley, and Pamela "P.J." Umlor, of Kingsley; stepson, Michael Cross; grandchildren, Jennie, Weslee, Clayton (Susan), Anna, Rick and Michael; great-grandchildren, Conrad and Mason; brothers, James and Andrew Weber, of Oregon; and foster mother, Ruth Goodman.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Donovan Burton Cross; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Per Maxine's wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be remembered privately by her family.
