KEWADIN — LaFonna Spasich, 90, of Kewadin, passed away peacefully at Munson Medical Center on Feb. 8, 2013. LaFonna was born Jan. 24, 1923 in Glouster, Ohio to Bert and Golda Juniper.
LaFonna married her high school sweetheart, Tom Spasich. Together they raised two children, Carol and Tom (Mike). Before retiring in 1987, she worked at Ford Motor Company. When she retired, she and her husband moved to their home on Torch Lake. LaFonna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Elk Rapids and the Elk Rapids Garden Club. For many years LaFonna taught ceramics and china painting in her home.
LaFonna is survived by her husband of 71 years, Tom Spasich, son Tomas (Margaret) Spasich, daughter Carol Spasich, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers William Brooks, and Douglas Juniper.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Grace Lutheran Church in Elk Rapids. In lieu of flowers, a donation in LaFonna's name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church of Elk Rapids.
