BELLAIRE —
Deborah L. Smith, 62, of Bellaire, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.
Deborah was born in Cadillac on June 18, 1949, the daughter of Lavern and Charlotte Wallington.
She was in the education field as a teacher and administrator for 41 years, receiving numerous awards. Deb received an 'Outstanding Educator Award' from TBAISD in May, 2012. She was very dedicated to her profession and was a mentor to many. She had the 'right stuff' to get things done!
She loved reading, camping, and most of all, her pride and joy were her grandchildren.
On May 22, 1976, in Lake City, Deborah married Chester F. Smith, who survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Andrea Tomei, of Kingsley and Ashley Smith and her fiancé, Chris Alspaugh, of Washington, Pa.; mother, Charlotte Wallington; brother, Jim (Nancy) Wallington, of Lake City; two grandchildren, Nathan Chet Tomei and Marleigh Mae Alspaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
