Elizabeth A. Hans

KALKASKA — Elizabeth A. Hans, 72, of Kalkaska, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital. She was born on Sept. 21, 1939, in White County, Ark., the daughter of the late Arthur and Floe Hudson.

Elizabeth married Frederick Hans on Aug. 18, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flint.

Elizabeth was a volunteer helper for hospice, an elementary school teacher for 30 years in Flint, part time substitute teacher in Kalkaska for two years, a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Job Winslow Chapter in Traverse City, member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flint and attendee of other churches in Flint, Traverse City, Kalkaska and Pigeon Forge, Tenn. She was also a member and held various officer positions of the University of Michigan-Flint Alumni.

Elizabeth's hobbies included cooking, collecting cookbooks, collecting British Monarch plates and cups/saucers, genealogy, traveling and sewing.

Surviving Elizabeth are her loving husband of 48 years, Fred; her niece, Beth (Michael) Thomas; great-nephews, Adam and Eliot Thomas; and adopted family, Richard and Sondra Nordin, and Wallace and Dolores Hibbard and their children and grandchildren.

A memorial service is pending.
