Other View: Lesson in bad behavior

North Korea's Fourth of July missile launches was that country's way of thumbing its nose at the United States.

But it's just one more example of the irrational -- even immature -- behavior coming out of that nation.

Described as tests, the missile launches were nothing of the sort. They were a clumsy and ham-handed attempt at intimidation. Considering the U.S. was anticipating a long-range missile launch that could have landed near Hawaii, the seven short-range missiles -- which hit water just off the Korean coast -- failed to impress.

To the contrary, it raised questions about North Korea's capacity to send missiles, particularly nuclear-tipped varieties, anywhere near the United States ...

So the missile launches become the equivalent of a government-sponsored temper tantrum ...
