Would rather stay alive

The Jan. 1 letter to the editor stating that the National Rifle Association's response to the Newtown, Conn., shootings is insane makes me wonder just who is insane. Agreed that schools are a place for books, not guns. But in the real world that we live in, there are people like Adam Lanza who don't share that view.

If that letter writer would prefer to throw books at the next armed intruder who shoots his way into a school, he's welcome to it. As for me, I would rather have the ability to return fire and stay alive. Not wanting to live is what I would call insane. C'est la vie!
