Witness for human life
On Jan. 22, a funeral procession was held in Traverse City to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision of the U.S. Supreme Court making it legal to have an abortion during the full term of pregnancy.
The Grand Traverse Area Right to Life decided to have a "Life Funeral Procession" in memory of unborn babies who have been aborted. The goal of having more than 54 cars in the procession was met, each car representing 1 million of the 54 million babies denied life by abortion since Roe vs. Wade in 1973.
The funeral procession traveled through Traverse City to the Tomb of the Unborn at Oakwood Cemetery on Eighth Street. The large crowd of mourners left their cars and gathered around the Tomb of the Unborn. Pastor Paul Silbor from Honor Congregational Church gave a moving memorial message and prayer for life.
It was a witness for the sanctity and inviolability of precious human life created by God in his image. Abortion is forever.
Hopefully, the Life Memorial Funeral Procession caused observers to think about how terrible and definite it is to kill the innocent unborn and touched hearts to choose life.

Made names for selves
Recently I had the opportunity to attend St. Francis High School's performance of "Guys and Dolls." Having no ties to any of the students, I didn't know what to expect. Boy, was I blown out of the water. The show was funny, high-energy and featured incredible acting, vocal and instrumental talent. For a school with only 300 students to pull off a quality production like this is remarkable.
The St. Francis music and drama programs have made new names for themselves.
