Other View: Enforce construction speed

For all of those drivers who see construction as an inconvenience and a barrier between them and their appointments, we suggest they leave a little early.

We'd like to thank the Oakland County Sheriff 's Office for regularly assigning deputies to catch speeders in the eastern construction zone on M-59. ...

It really is amazing how many drivers think that the reduced speed limits -- particularly the "45 miles-per-hour where workers are present" -- do not apply to them.

It is also surprising how unfazed some of these folks are by the tough Michigan laws about driving in construction zones. ...

By slowing down and driving carefully, you will help all of us get through this difficult time.

By speeding, you are adding to the problem for everyone.

And we think people who take a "me first" attitude to driving, particularly when construction workers are there, deserve the double fines.
