VANDERBILT -- Two footbridges along the High Country Pathway in the Pigeon River Country State Forest are re-opened.
The bridges required more than $35,000 in repairs for structural problems and were closed last year. The bridges cross the Black and Pigeon Rivers on the heavily-used trail in Otsego and Cheboygan counties.
Temporary detours -- 3.7 miles around the Black River footbridge and 7.5 miles around the Pigeon River footbridge -- will be removed.
Bridge repairs were funded through the state's Recreation Improvement Fund, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
