EAST LANSING — Traverse City Central senior Julia Otwell won two events Friday at the Michigan State Spartan Classic.
Rockford won the meet with 172 points while the Trojans were seventh with 48.
Otwell set a PR in the 1,600 meters in 5 minutes, 3 seconds. Then she followed it up by winning the 3200 in 10:58.
Katie Fallick was third in the 800 (2:23) and teamed with Maren Bahra, Aimee Marsh and Taylor Olsen for third in the 1600 relay (4:11). Molly Walker was sixth in the high jump (4-6), Marsh was seventh in the 800 (2:26) and Emily Grof was seventh in the long jump (15-8).
The Traverse City Central boys finished third in the 13-team field with 71 points. Williamston ws first (105) and Rockford second (79).
Placing for the Trojans: James Barbera was second (50'1") and Casey Challender seventh (46'9.5") in the shot put; Nick Alpers took seventh in discus (132'6"); Ryan Gemmell placed second (12'6") and Tony Fulk fourth (12'6") in the pole vault; Sem Novikov was sixth in the long jump (20'2.5"); Evan Cover finished third in the 800 (1:58.88); Spencer Potter came in sixth in the high hurdles (15.87); Michael Heim was sixth in the 100 (11.03); Jack Stevens placed seventh in the 200 (22.81); Novikov, Boone Marois, Heim and Stevens were third in the 400 relay (43.79) and fourth in the 800 (1:33.82); Tyler Kelly, Cover, Drew Dancer and Nick Bruning placed second in the 3200 (8:14.43); and Bruning, Cover, Kelly and Ryen Keenan took fifth in the 1600 (3:34.8).

TC West second at Midland Relays
Traverse City West finished second in the co-ed Graves/Swayze Relays in Midland.
The Titans had a combined 129 points. Midland won the event with 172.
The West girls had an impressive night. Savannah Stuart-Dahl, Ruth Hines, Hannah Schnack and Kathryn Walters set a school record in winning the 400 relay (51.52).
Also earning medals: Stuart-Dahl, Lilia Favela and Schnack took second in the long jump (43'4.75"); Breanna Greenland, Kendall Cox and Celia Jabour tied for first in the pole vault (23'); Kaylee Vandommelen (second in 5:28), Marcy Marek (third in 5:34), Rachael Favela (fifth in 5:37) and Hannah Rickard (sixth in 5:43) won the 6400 relay (16 points); Marek, Rachael Favela, Casey Mutter and Clancey Hawke finished third in the 3200 (11:00.34); Dani Brzezinski, Hines, Stuart-Dahl and Lilia Favela were third in the sprint medley (1:57.06); Vandommelen, Brzezinski, Jordyn Severt and Marek took second in the middle distance relay (7:20.84); Schnack, Stuart-Dahl, Walters and Lilia Favela placed third in the 800 (1:51.81); Hines, Severt and Shelby Drzewiecki were second in the 300 hurdles (2:35.85); Vandommelen, Walters, Brzezinski and Lilia Favela took third in the 1600 (4:22.44); and Jonah Laursen, Seb Kucera, Rachael Favela and Rickard finished third in the co-ed relay (15:29.56).
For the boys, the Titans had three firsts.
Cody Russell, Scott Ringwelski and Gunnar Brammer teamed to win the 300 hurdles. Zeke Famiano, Anthony West, Jesse Schwartz and Ringwelski won the sprint medley (1:37.5) while Sam Kosinski, Famiano, Russell and Matt Laylin won the middle distance relay (6:03.3).
Steve Alpers, Connor Kostrzewa, T.J. Leitner and Reese Spaulding finished second in the shot put (160-8.25), Kucera, Kosinski, Hunter Swogger and Laylin were second in the 6400 relay while Schwartz, Famiano, Tyler Johnson and Ringwelski were second in the 1600 (3:37.6).
Benzie boys top field at Harrison
The Benzie Central boys won nine events en route to capturing the Harrison Relays.
The Huskies finished with 94 points. Harrison was second with 64.
Benzie's winners included: Maurice Nash, Ben Thaxton and Shiloh McCulley in the long jump (53'7"); Chris Morris, Matt Gould and Ed Roseman in the discus (323'11"); David Rhodes, Gerrit Buist and Robert Kerby in the pole vault (30'6"); Gould, Logan Gray and Scott Streeter in the shot put (125'10"); Buist, Nick Radionoff, Talon Morris and Rick Jones in the 3200 (8:33); Buist, Radionoff, Nash and Corey Bock in the 800 (1:35); Travis Clous, Will Huddleston, Kerby and Morris in the distance medley (11:27); Bock,Nash, Radionoff and Roseman in the sprint medley (2:06); and Radionoff, Buist, Jones and Nash in the 1600 (3:42).
The Benzie girls placed second to Gladwin, 88-76.

Joburg, Onaway win Mancelona Invite
Johannesburg-Lewiston's girls won seven events to take the Mancelona Invite.
The Cardinals scored 182 points, followed by Inland Lakes (85), Fairview (79), Forest Area (65), Bellaire (56), Posen (39), Onaway (32), Mancelona (31) Central Lake (31) and Ellsworth (31).
Joburg's Amanda Head won the high jump at 5-1 while Stephanie Fisher won the long jump (14-9) and Meghan Makranyi took the discus (96-3). Meridith DeLuca won the 1600 (5:53.81) and the 800 (2:34.65) while the Cardinals also took the 3200 relay (11:09) and the 800 relay (1:59).
Forest Area's Marissa Ingersoll won the 100 (13.65) and the 200 (28.04) while teaming with Courtney Middaugh, Kim Wendel and Katie Johnson to take the 400 relay (55.13). Johnson won both hurdles (17.35, 52.83).
Inland Lake's Brianna Ohlert took the pole vault (10-2) and the 1600 relay with Sandy Bischoff, Rebekah Drogowski, Rebecca Hunt and Nakita Brasseur (4:39.27).
Central Lake's Jasmine Hines won the shot put at 42 feet.
In the boys' meet, Onaway won with 142 points, followed by Forest Area (103), Fairview (81), Mancelona (61), Hillman (57), Central Lake (46) and Bellaire (46).
Jan O'Bradovich from Onaway won the high jump (6-0) and the 400 (54.94). The Cardinals won the 3200 relay (9:02), the 1600 run with Lain Veihl (4:55) and the 300 hurdles with Bryan Tucker (43.59).
Forest Area took the 1600 relay (3:46.12) with Taman Gerring, Jermaine Nix, Luke Rookus and Jesse Richards. Rookus also won the 800 (2:08.17).
Gaylord St. Mary won the 400 relay (47.72) and also had firsts from Clay Becker in the 100 (11.45) and 200 (23.73).
Mancelona's Corey Lowers won the pole vault (10-3) and Cody Aldrich took the discus (112-8.5). Donavan Dawson from Bellaire won the 110 hurdles (16.0) and Central Lake's Zach Harvey took the 3200 run (10:37).
TENNIS
TC Central B wins St. Francis Invite
Traverse City Central's B team took first place at the St. Francis Invite.
The Trojans scored 20 points, followed by the host Gladiators with 15 and Alpena with 13.
TC Central's winners included Emma Schilkey at No. 3 singles and Kelsey White at No. 4 singles.
The Trojans also took the final three flights of doubles with Katie Raymond/Leah Potter, Telia Gerstle/Nadine Teuck and Ali Prentice/Savannah Micunek.
Central's Kelly Krueger was second at No. 1 singles while Kathryn Amalfitano was runner-up at No. 2 singles.
St. Francis won No. 2 singles with Lauren Hansen and No. 1 doubles with Elizabeth Stayman and Abby Shrift.
Finishing second for the Gladiators were Mara Thompson at No. 4 singles, Bailey Ray/Lena Popp at No. 2 doubles and Lauren Gann/Olivia Wurm at No. 3 doubles.

Manistee won the opener 2-0 before Frankfort came back with a 4-2 nightcap win to split a non-conference doubleheader.
The Panthers (11-3) got the win in the second game from Tim Stieve, who gave up eight hits with six strikeouts. Talon Bigley had two RBIs at the plate.
Kyle Zimmerman took the loss in the first game with 10 strikeouts and two hits allowed. Frankfort gave up five errors.

Benzie Central swept past McBain 4-3 and 11-1 in non-conference action.
Noah Salyer pitched the win for the Huskies (9-5) in the first game with eight strikeouts. Shane Roelofs was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Parker Nugent had two hits while Gus Tanner had a two-run double.
Roelofs pitched the second win with six strikeouts. Connor Stapleton had three hits, Nugent had two hits and Hayden Clark tallied five RBIs.

Buckley beat Manistee Catholic Central 9-2, 11-4 in non-conference play.
Josh Ledford pitched the win in the first game for the Bears (9-5) with 11 strikeouts, no walks and three hits. At the plate, Drew Corwin had four hits while Jacob Youker and Zach Hartzell each reached safely twice.
Buckley scored seven runs in the first inning of the nightcap for the win. Zack Traylor pitched the win with eight strikeouts while Corwin singled and hit a three-run homer.

Casey McDonough scored a hat-trick as Glen Lake beat Boyne City 6-0.
The Lakers (6-0-1) also had goals from Logan Popp, Jordan Lewis and Grace Hubbell. McDonough's third goal came off a penalty kick.
Popp, Carly Peyton and Cassie Lee all had assists while Sophie Ewing got the shutout in net.

Jessi Heger had a goal and two assists as the TC Liberty blanked East Jordan 3-0 in Lake Michigan Conference soccer.
Kylie Argyle and Alexandra Michelin also tallied for the Liberty (5-0-3). Kelly Send assisted on Heger's goal. Leah Beemer posted the shutout in goal.

Gail Newberg pitched Benzie Central to 9-3 and 4-0 non-conference wins over McBain.
Newberg hurled a five-hitter in game one and a three-hitter in the nightcap.
Haeley Melton, Raenee Harig and Michelle Laffleur all had RBI hits in the opener. Alyssa Neff produced two hits and two RBIs in the nightcap for the Huskies (6-8).

Bellaire had a pair of mercy wins against Wolverine, 31-1 and 20-4.
In the first game, Katie Thorton pitched the win. Nicole Tipton had three triples, a home run and five RBIs, Morgan Ritt hat two hits and two RBIs while Sadie Small tripled and drove in three runs.
Mackenzie Verellen pitched the win in the nightcap while Thorton threw two innings of relief. Verellen had three hits and three RBIs, Thorton had two hits and four RBIs, Courtney Lang had a triple and three RBIs while Nicole Pitten triple and homered.
East Jordan 3 4

Shaina Peters pitched a one-hitter, striking out 15, as East Jordan blanked Harbor Light 3-0 in the first of two games.
The Red Devils (15-1) scored all three of their runs in the fourth.
East Jordan scored a run in the sixth to win the nightcap, 4-3. Peters earned the win in relief.

Manistee beat Frankfort 10-1 and 10-3 in non-conference action.
Julia Maksym pitched the win in the first game for Manistee.
For the Panthers (9-8) Brittany Soper had the team's lone hit in the first game. Tami Banktson, Paige Banktson and Jessica Schaub all had hits in the nightcap.
Tami Banktson pitched both game. She had five strikeouts in the first game and seven in the nightcap.
Frankfort plays Kingsley on Tuesday.

Benzie places third in Hart Invitational
Benzie Central finished sixth in the 12-team Hart Invitational.
The Huskies, playing in Division 1-2, shot a 357. Muskegon Reeths-Puffer won the division with a 308.
For Benzie, Samuel Hahn shot 75, Paul Dumas 89, Kyle Zielinski 96 and Troy Bailey 97. Hahn finished third.
