SUTTONS BAY — Leland and Traverse City Christian will meet on Friday night for a Class D district title.
The teams advanced on Wednesday night with semifinal wins.
The Sabres (20-26-6) beat Northport 25-22, 20-25, 25-17, 25-19.
Maddie White had nine kills, three assists and three aces, Mikayla Brett had four kills and six blocks, Laura Murray had eight kills and seven aces, Shannon Ufer had three kills and 11 assists, Lauren Webb had eight digs and Aubrey Heersema had 13 assists.
In the second semfinal, the Comets (41-10-4) knocked off hosts Suttons Bay 25-9, 25-22, 25-11.
Leland had 15 kills and five digs from Brooke Olesnavage, five kills, three blocks and four digs from Andrea Hunt, 19 digs from Maggie Osorio, 20 assists and three aces from Caitlin McKee while Sammie Sterkenburg had 11 assists and three aces.
The teams met three times in the regular season with the Comets taking all three.
McBain 3 Beaverton 0
McBain advanced to the finals of the Class C district the Ramblers are hosting, sweeping past Beaverton 25-11, 26-24, 25-15.
The Ramblers served 87 percent from the line and had 60 digs in the match.
"We took care of business," said McBain coach Dawn VerBerkmoes. "We wanted to win in three and we did. We played mentally tough and the girls did a nice job of communicating and playing together."
Middle hitter Kylie Bos put some of the boom into the McBain attack, drilling 11 kills. Sara Schierbeek and Keiana Westdorp each whacked six kills and setter Meredith Hamlet hammered five kills to go with 25 assists and five aces.
Kate Overmyer recorded 15 digs and Hamlet had 10.
McBain hosts Pine River on Friday in the district title match.
Petoskey wins, Elk Rapids falls
Petoskey moved on to the Division 2 state championship match while Elk Rapids came up short in its Division 3 state semifinal.
The Northmen beat Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood 3-1 on goals from Adam Bayer, Evan Altman and Hunter Viles. The match was tied 1-1 at the half.
Petoskey moves on to face Hudsonville Unity Christian on Saturday for the state title.
In Division 3, Williamston beat Elk Rapids 2-1 in a shootout. The Elks came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit with a Spencer LaPointe goal, but came up on the short end of a 4-3 decision in the shootout.
TCC selling playoff tickets
Tickets for Traverse City Central's football game at Midland on Friday are currently on sale at the TCC athletic office.
They will be available through Friday afternoon. The game will also be available to stream online at www.mhsaa.tv.
