SUTTONS BAY — Tyler Leveque knocked down a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Leland a 50-47 victory in front a packed house in Suttons Bay.
Leveque, Ian Duvall and Austin Fellows led the Comets back from a 38-19 deficit after three quarters with a 3-point barrage in the fourth quarter.
Leveque scored nine of his 15 points in the fourth and Duvall and Fellows each had seven.
Duvall ended with 15 points and Fellows 14.
For Suttons Bay (3-6), Aaron Orban led with 12 points and Logan Mikesell and Guy Beachnau each had 11.
The Norse travel Wednesday to Mesick.
BOYS HOOPS
Benzie Central 74 Mesick 56
Corey Weaver racked up 30 points and 19 rebounds as Benzie Central improved its Northwest Conference record to 4-2 with a 74-56 win over Mesick.
Ismael Halaweh added 18 points and Nate Oren 13 for the Huskies (4-6, 4-2 NWC), who travel Wednesday to Glen Lake.
Andre Whittaker led Mesick with 19 points and Thane Herbert added 14.
Kingsley 60 Buckley 11
Kingsley routed a short-handed Buckley squad 60-11 in Northwest Conference action.
The Bears had only six players in uniform due to injuries.
Tyler Newell led the Stags (5-6, 4-2 NWC) with 13 points and Travis Debello added 10. Kingsley hosts Frankfort on Wednesday.
Michael Baldinger scored seven for Buckley.
Beal City 60 Lake City 38
Lake City held a 13-12 lead after one quarter against visiting Beal City but struggled against the Aggies' aggressive man defense the rest of the way and suffered a 60-38 defeat. The Aggies (8-3, 6-0) remained unbeaten in Highland play.
Junior guard Drew Marion scored 10 to lead the Trojans (7-4, 2-4) and junior Kevin Kunkel added six.
Lake City coach Dale Eising credited Rhett Thompson, Jeramie Lyle and Storm Francisco with providing energy off the bench in the second half.
Ryan Tillman tallied 12 for Beal while Tucker Gross, Cory Mead and Alex Schafer each scored 10.
Burt Lake NMCA 70 Harbor Light 47
Aaron Chatfield's third triple-double of the season led Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian to a 70-47 victory over Harbor Light.
Chatfield had 32 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
Robert Taylor added 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks, while Jake Lovitt had 13 points, Andrew Vandeyacht grabbed seven rebounds and Josiah Fosmore pulled down nine rebounds for the Eagles (3-4).
GIRLS HOOPS
TC West 36 Ogemaw Heights 29
Katie Placek's double-double led Traverse City West to a 36-29 Big North Conference victory over Ogemaw Heights.
Placek put up 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Titans (5-8, 5-1 BNC).
West is off until Feb. 1, when the Titans host BNC leader Cadillac, which has a tough test tonight against Petoskey.
West won the JV game 27-20 as Mikenna Ray scored 11 points. The Titans won the freshman contest 36-21, led by eight points from Jada Koon and six by McKenzie Ankerson.
Alpena 46 TC Central 38
Christina Kollien hit for 20 points as Alpena earned a 46-38 Big North Conference win over Traverse City Central.
Lizzy Trelfa added 10 for the Wildcats (4-7, 4-3 BNC).
Taylor Cobb scored 12 and Jesse Hiemstra nine for the Trojans (2-8, 2-3).
Central won the JV game 42-35, led by 12 points from Kelsey Acton and 10 by Kalina Pfannenstiel.
Joburg-Lewiston 67 Forest Area 23
Abby Schlicher had 18 points as Johannesburg-Lewiston rebounded from its first setback of the season with a 67-23 win over Forest Area.
The Cardinals led 22-10 during the second quarter, but went on a run before halftime to lead 32-12 at the intermission. Then they added a 23-7 third-quarter spurt.
Schlicher added seven rebounds, four steals and four assists, while Brittany Cherwinski had 10 points, six boards, four steals and four assists and Hannah Huff chipped in 10 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Madison Showerman scored eight points.
Kortni Birgy led Forest Area with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Emily Gonyer pitched in eight points and three steals and Lyndsey Czuk grabbed 12 boards.
Gaylord St. Mary 29 Onaway 14
Kari Borowiak was the only player to hit double figures as Gaylord St. Mary downed Onaway 29-14 in Ski Valley Conference action.
Bekah Myler added eight points for the Snowbirds (12-2, 9-1 SVC), who travel Saturday to Bellaire for a 5 p.m. matchup.
Central Lake 26 Bellaire 24
Lauren Rogers and Allie Hines scored nine points each to lead Central Lake to a close 26-24 Ski Valley Conference win over Bellaire.
Tiffany Clovis led Bellaire (8-3, 5-3 SVC) with eight points.
The game was tied at 16 after three quarters before Central Lake (6-6, 4-6 SVC) held a slim 10-8 fourth-quarter advantage.
Ellsworth 30 Wolverine 20
Ellsworth defeated Wolverine 30-20 in Northern Lake Conference action.
Kari Steenwyk had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Lancers, who improve to 5-6 overall and 4-2 in league play.
Alanson 58 Alba 17
Alanson topped Alba 58-17 in Northern Lakes Conference play.
Stephanie Ostrom led the Wildcats (4-7, 1-6 NLC) with five points and five rebounds.
