Three area boys teams advance to state quarterfinals

Three area boys basketball teams have advanced to the state quarterfinals after winning regional championships tonight.

In Class C, Glen Lake won an overtime thriller against Shelby, 64-62, and in Class D Frankfort downed Bellaire, 55-42.

Cadillac won a Class B regional crown over Grayling, 60-41.

Glen Lake next plays Negaunee, while Frankfort will meet Wyoming Tri-unity Christian and Cadillac will go up against Big Rapids. All quarterfinal games will be played on Tuesday.

St. Francis rolls to regional track crown

The St. Francis girls set two school records, won 10 events and qualified 10 to the state meet en route to capturing the 17-team Division 4 regional track title Saturday at Brethren.

Trojans enter Div. 1 play as the favorites

Traverse City Central hopes to end a five-year regional tennis title drought today. The Trojans enter play in the 11-team Division 1 field at the Midland Tennis Center as the favorite.
