Frankfort posts two wins over Manton

BUCKLEY — Kayla Traylor pitched two strong games on Wednesday at Buckley earned a 4-3, 8-4 non-conference sweep of Lake City.

Traylor gave up one earned run while winning the first game for the Bears (8-21). In the nightcap, she fanned three.

Caelin Runyon had two hits and three stolen bases in the first game while Paige Gokey also had two hits. Montana Jayska added a hit, two RBIs and a run. In the nightcap, Lauren Steed had two hits, Jayska had a hit, two RBIs and two runs while Runyon had a hit, two runs and three stolen bases.

Buckley is at Marion on Friday afternoon for the district semifinal against Forest Area.

Frankfort split a non-conference doubleheader with Manton in a final tune-up before districts.

The Panthers (20-13-2) lost the opener 12-4 as Tami Banktson gave us six hits with four strikeouts. Laura Maier added two hits.

In the nightcap, Frankfort won 6-4 as Banktson fanned three. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a solo homer. Courtney Bower and Marissa Moore each had two hits while Maier doubled.

Frankfort hosts Onekema on Saturday in district action.

Brennan Flynn and Kyle Kidder pounded out two hits apiece to back the pitching of Talon Bigley as Frankfort beat Manton 6-2 in the first of two non-league games.

The Panthers (15-19) won the nightcap 8-3 as R.J. Kennis notched the win. Nolan Nye led the attack with three hits, including a double. Owen Stratton added two doubles and Ken Frieswyk chipped in two hits as well.

Frankfort hosts the Division 4 district on Saturday. The Panthers will take on Manistee Catholic in the opener while Brethren and Onekama are on the other side of the draw.
