Gladiators share LMC ski crown

HARBOR SPRINGS -- Traverse City St. Francis, Boyne City and Harbor Springs all claimed Lake Michigan Conference titles Tuesday at Boyne Highlands.

The Gladiators and Ramblers shared the boys' title while the Rams ran away with the girls' championship.

In Tuesday's league meet, Boyne City won the boys' meet with 45 points, followed by St. Francis (61) Grayling (87) Harbor Springs (92.5) and Charlevoix/East Jordan (158.5).

Harbor's Drake Doherty won the giant slalom in 1 minute, 4.09 seconds, followed by Boyne's Kaleb McNamara (1:04.14) and Mike Cortwright (1:05.08), and St. Francis' Keaden Hornyak (1:06.03) and Stephen Siddall (1:06.47).

McNamara won the slalom (1:21.26), followed by Doherty (1:21.47), Cortwright (1:22.30), Hornyak (1:23.17) and Grayling's Mike Olson (1:23.83).

The Ramblers and Glads shared the final LMC standings with 66 points while Harbor was third with 46 and Grayling fourth with 43.

In the girls' meet Tuesday, Harbor won with 51 points, followed by the Ramblers (53.5), Gladiators (89.5), Vikings (144), Charlevoix/East Jordan (154) and Elk Rapids (187).

The Rams won the final standings with 70 points, while Boyne was second (58), St. Francis third (52) and Grayling fourth (40).

Harbor's Andi Shepherd won the giant slalom in 1:08.33, followed by Boyne's Christina Roland (1:08.53) Cooper Dendel (1:09.47) from Harbor Springs and Boyne's Kaitlyn Bohnet (1:10.54) and Morgan Harding (1:10.86).

Roland won the slalom (1:25.17) followed by Shepherd (1:26.36), Dendel (1:27.82), Mary Gocha (1:29.86) from Charlevoix/East Jordan and Bohnet (1:30.73).
