St. Francis sweeps LMC track quad

KALKASKA -- Traverse City St. Francis won both the girls and boys meets at the Kalkaska quad.

In the girls meet, the Gladiators had 83 points for first, followed by Charlevoix with 71, Elk Rapids with 48 and Kalkaska with 42.

Hannah Meachum broke her own St. Francis school record in the pole vault. The junior cleared 11 feet for first and also won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.65 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 50.50 seconds.

Morgan McCardel won the 1600 (5:22.06) and the 800 (2:39.32) for St. Francis, which also won the 1600 relay in 4:32.94 with Katie Olson, Kallie Klump, Cassie Williams and McCardel.

Charlevoix won the 800 relay (1:53.47), the 3200 relay (11:12.89), the high jump (5-0) with Alyssa Smith, Chantel Novotny won the 200 (28.69) and Ellise Smolenyok won the 400 (1:03.94).

Elk Rapids placed Amanda Hammer first in the 3200 (12:56.62), Kelly VanDeusen won the long jump (15-03.75) and the 100 dash (13.75) and the 400 relay (54.73).

Amanda Flanigan won the shot put (30-9.5) for Kalkaska and the discus (84-8).

In the boys meet, St. Francis won with 128 points, followed by Charlevoix (53), Kalkaska (41) and Elk Rapids (33).

Taylor Hennrick won the 110 hurdles (16.68) for the Gladiators, the 300 hurdles (42.96) and was on the winning 400 (46.42) and 800 (1:36.21) relays.

Brady Mikula won the long jump (19-9), Ryan Farley cleared 12 feet in the pole vault, Mark Kanitz took the 400 (53.15), Corey Williams won the 800 (2:07.35) and Ben Swan took the 200 (23.59). St. Francis als won the 1600 (3:45.01) and 3200 (8:54) relays.
