Basketball Roundup: Buckley posts win

Burt Lake NMCA bounces back from 1st loss of season

BUCKLEY — On an off-night from the floor, Buckley hit the shots when it counted Monday for a 57-54 non-conference win over Big Rapids Crossroads.

The Bears (5-5) shot 28 percent from the floor, but were 12-for-18 from the free-throw line, including some big ones down the stretch.

Jake Larsen had 21 points for Buckley while Evan Chalker had 15 points.

The Bears play Kingsley on Wednesday to start a 10-game run in 27 days.

"At the midway point, with all the kids have been through, I think it's pretty good to be at 5-5," Buckley coach Rene LaFreniere III said. "We're hanging in there."
