Buckley Farm Show speakers scheduled

BUCKLEY — The 28th annual Buckley Farm Show will be held Feb. 16 at Hannah St. Mary's School.

The event opens at 10 a.m., with registration starting at 9:30 a.m., and continues through 3 p.m.

Presenters include Erwin "Duke" Elsner,who will discuss programs and activities of Michigan State University's Extension Service; and Greg Shy, of the local Farm Service Agency office. Frank Lipinski will talk about new crop varieties, seed shortages, potash deficiencies and residual herbicides, while Jim Hilker will give an overview on grain and livestock markets.

Also featured is TV 7&4 meteorologist Joe Charlevoix, who will give a forecast for the 2012 growing season; and Craig Anderson, who will have tips on tractor and equipment safety.

State Police will review new rules for on-road farm trucks and trailers, and Matt Breithaupt will discuss no-till corn planting.

Lunch will be served.
