TRAVERSE CITY-- Daniel Jacques spent four years and lots of money restoring his dream car: a cream-colored 1963 Buick Riviera.
But when Jacques emerged from his home at Arbutus Hill and Brown Bridge roads Wednesday morning, he found his dream badly damaged.
Someone took a rounded object, possibly a bat or pipe, and smashed the vehicle's windows and body.
"They busted the driver's door glass out, the passenger and the back window of the car," Jacques said. "They smashed both fenders and the hood. They beat the heck out of the car. I have no idea why."
Jacques and the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Department want help to identify the culprit.
Authorities said the vandalism unfolded between Sunday night and Wednesday morning. Police don't have any suspects.
Jacques knows of no one who's mad at him or capable of damaging his car.
He said he will restore the vehicle again.
"It can be fixed," Jacques said. "Being a vintage car, it's a very expensive fix. It's not like taking your 2007 car to the body shop and getting it fixed. The parts for this car are almost impossible to find, and if you can find them, they are costly and it takes a lot of time and research to do it."

"I'm sick over this," Jacques said. "It's devastating. If someone knows who did it, I would beg of them, plead with them, to tell me who did it. I'm considering putting out a reward."
