The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) sponsored by the Volunteer Center at the United Way of NWMI, will sponsor a new initiative called KISS, Keeping Independent Seniors Safe. It's a telephone reassurance program that utilizes volunteers to make telephone reassurance calls three times a week to shut in seniors. This free Monday, Wednesday and Friday telephone reassurance program offers adults aged 60 and older a chance to remain in their own home while alleviating some of their fears and isolation. Participants will be called at home by the RSVP volunteers as a "check on" system. The pilot program initiative is open to seniors in Grand Traverse County. To volunteer to make these reassurance calls contact Susan McQuaid, Director of the Volunteer Center at 947-3200 Ext. 205 or susan@unitedwaynwmi.org.
