Matthew Paul Kinne

TRAVERSE CITY — Matthew went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Dec. 20, 2012. He was born in Ann Arbor in 1967 to Janet Gail Becker Kinne and Douglas George Kinne.

He moved to Petoskey in 1973 and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1985. Matthew graduated from Wheaton College in 1989, taught high school at Harbor Light Christian School in Harbor Springs and then graduated with a master's degree from Regent University, Virginia Beach, Va., in video and film production.

Matt was a film critic for "Movie Guide" magazine in Atlanta, Ga., a division of the Christian Film Coalition.

Matthew moved to Traverse City in 2000 and hosted his movie review show on WLJN, and was a frequent guest on the Ron Jolly Show on WTCM, discussing the film industry. He was a published author of several books and a freelance ghost writer of many other books.

Matt had a deep passion for the film industry. He worked on several freelance projects with Brauer Productions and Peterson Productions of Traverse City and Moonlit Pictures of Baltimore, Md. Matt also worked on three movies starring Ernest Borgnine. In his latest film project Matt served as coproducer of an internationally released film released in 2012 titled "Undaunted", the early years of international speaker and writer Josh McDowell.

Matthew was a member of Bay Pointe Community Church of Traverse City and also frequently attended the Church of Philadelphia in Traverse City. He had a never ending love of the Lord Jesus and greatly impacted those around him with his faith.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Douglas Kinne, of Petoskey.

He is survived by his mother, Jan Kinne Conway and her husband, Jim Conway, of Petoskey; a brother, Rex Kinne, of Traverse City; sister, Tamara Piper, her husband, Douglas Piper and their three children, niece, Brianna Shann and nephews, Tyler and Jacob Piper, of Harbor Springs; plus Jim's three daughters and families, Barbara Schneider, of Seattle, Wash., Brenda Russell, of Lansing, and Becki Walters, of Boise, Idaho.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at 2 p.m., at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Graveside services will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at 10 a.m.
