Lucille B. Jones, 94, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions - Willow Cottage. Lucille "Lucy" was born on Oct. 2, 1918, to Charles and Charlotte Lilley in Trenton, where her father worked for the Detroit Edison Company.
Lucille grew up in Trenton, graduated from Trenton High School and then attended Wayne State University.
She married William "Al" Jones on Oct. 7, 1939. They had a daughter, Charlotte, born in 1941 and a son, Chuck, born in 1945.
Lucille's proudest achievement was being a "Gray Lady" for the Wyandotte Hospital and Seaway Hospital, Trenton, for 35 years. Lucille also volunteered for the Red Cross for five years in Oscoda.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (Bill) Busby, of Buckley; and son, Chuck (Dottie) Jones, of North Carolina. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Bob (Marcela) Busby, of Texas, Shelley Busby, of Cadillac, Jessica (Peter) Ledebur, of Massachusetts, Dan (Lisa) Busby, of Mesick, and Justin (Jillian) Jones, of Massachusetts; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, "Al"; a sister, Jean; and brother-in-law, Jerry Brown.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be with her husband, Al, in the Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
